Whilst relaxing the time away at our idyllic retreat can be the perfect way to unwind, why not take the opportunity to learn about some of the wild edible plants sat in the hedgerows, how to harvest them safely and sustainably and how they can enhance dishes. Learn how to re-awaken your senses to the natural world and recharge your wild spirit.

An interest in flora and fauna led Chef Alex in to wild cuisine. Whilst working for an ancestral skills school that taught game and prep, wild cooking, foraging and fermentation, these skills were put to the test when he took on a challenge to eat only wild foods for 3 months as a part of the Wildbiome Project.

Your group will set out from the site for a 2 hour walk discussing a range of edible plants, their culinary, medicinal, practical uses and how to identify some of the potentially harmful lookalikes. Upon your return Alex will set up a forage inspired picnic by the fire pit to celebrate the harvest and some other inspiration on how to enjoy wild foods in your everyday diet sustainably.

Please let us know at the time of booking any allergies/food requirements. (Vegan/vegetarian ect.) as it would be difficult on the day to adjust the menu.

Suitable footwear, clothing and a bottle of water  is necessary for our walks. At times paths may be slippery too so if you require assistance please let Alex know when booking so he can discuss options.

Children in your group are required to be accompanied by an adult, we wouldn’t want anyone to pick the wrong plants or run off whilst the rest of the group discussed plant uses.
